Hardware + software – UI of an application for race drivers

Situation

The initial  premise of the project was an as simple and as legible form of UI but without sacrificing the aesthetic side of things. I proposed stylistics related to screens in modern cars and trends in designing the interior of present-day vehicles. While designing the UI (User interface) and XD (Experience design) the practical knowledge and perennial experience of the client who commissioned the application turned out to be invaluable.

Challenge

In response to the order, together with VISOWIA, I examined the newest trends in designing interiors, screens, indicators, and interfaces of cars. The highest priority was the readable but also dynamic nature of the visuals. The artwork of the UI had to be optimally clear to understand in the circumstances of sport driving. The indications of the application to the driver had to be easy to perceive not matter the position of the phone which was the main challenge during the design of the application.

Solution

A tasteful and beautiful but not overloaded with information layout has been created that still showed its racetrack teeth. I have designed icons, navigational elements, layout, the architecture of information, logotype, and the branding of the whole enterprise. I bet on legibility and tailoring to the user. The resulting solution has its temper and is a combination of modern premium cars and the raw cockpit of the race machine.
